Boxwood Floating Mount Frame
A modern frame that is both elegant and understated — your picture sits away from the solid wood frame with no mount board in front of it, so the photograph reads as though it is floating. The wood is FSC certified boxwood, in two classic colours, black and white — enough to suit work in different styles. The work is fixed with acid-free tape that reverses, so if you ever need to take it out, you do not have to worry about damaging it.

Let your photograph float
The mounting method many artists prefer today — it looks minimal, but there is design in it. The work is shown in full, with no mount board in front of it, and it never touches the acrylic. There is a 6 mm gap between the work and the backing board, so the piece reads as though it is floating in the frame.
Materials & construction
- Solid wood frame: boxwood, 40 mm deep and 15 mm wide at the face — FSC certified
- Two colours: black and white — both classics, enough to suit work in any style
- Glazing: clear acrylic rather than glass — safer to ship, no risk of breakage, and the interior is planned so the work never touches it
- Mount board: 1.4 mm white, acid-free — acid-free extends the life of your work
- Adhesive: German Neschen acid-free reversible tape dots — pH neutral, age resistant and PAT tested, widely used in conservation mounting. For valuable pieces we recommend a professional framer, to avoid damage through handling
- Backing and hangers: solid wood braced construction with square-hole hangers and countersunk screws — you can take the backing off, fix your work, and put it back
- Border: 50 mm around the work by default — a standard border; contact us if you want a different size
| In the box: the solid wood frame in black or white boxwood, clear acrylic glazing, 1.4 mm white acid-free mount board, German Neschen acid-free reversible tape dots, and the backing board with hangers. The artwork is not included unless you order printing with it. The frame arrives largely assembled — you only need to attach your work to the mount board. |
Selecting a size
- The option gives two measurements: the inner frame size and the artwork size. Choose the frame that matches your artwork. The default border is 50 mm on all four sides — if you need something different, contact us.
- For example, an option reading "frame 300 × 300 mm (artwork 200 × 200 mm)" means a frame whose inner size is 300 × 300 mm, which suits a 200 × 200 mm artwork.
- If you are not sure which to choose, contact us.
Recommended for
Photography, prints, photographs — it suits all kinds of work, as long as you want it to look as though it is floating in the frame.
Good to know
- The frame arrives largely assembled — you attach your work yourself. If you order printing at the same time, we can mount it for you before shipping (a small extra charge); contact us before you order.
- No wall screws are included: prepare fixings that suit the finished weight. The screws that hold the frame and backing together are supplied with the frame.
- If your work is valuable, have a professional framer install or remove it, to avoid loss.
